Chapter six in the Bedford Researcher touches on good researching techniques. This chapter includes reasoning and tips on why and how to save and organize notes on research. This chapter also helps avoid plagiarism though different techniques in quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. The chapter also instructs on how to create an accurate bibliography to help organize your research.
This chapter is very helpful because it is relevant to many other classes. The information is general enough that it can be used in assisting research for other classes, like history classes. The steps for constructing a bibliography are also helpful many other classes, too. I am currently taking a literature class, and the instructions seem extremely helpful. The class entails a lot of research and accurate sources, so this chapter is very relevant. Another part of the class is reading and taking notes on your thoughts during the reading process. The third part of the chapter includes, as I said before, has methods for note taking on sources. These methods will be useful for the note-taking for that class as well. The tips will help me better understand my research, because "taking notes helps you understand your sources more thoroughly than if you simply saved and highlighted copies of them" (102).
